Week 2-MAPPA (research)-Hailey Beach

     The animation studio I am researching is known as MAPPA. MAPPA Studios is a very large studio that has played parts in the animation of many popular anime, such as the last season of Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and the one I will focus on, Banana Fish. Banana Fish is a very emotional anime that details the struggles of a teenage boy named Ash. Ash is a gang leader, a brother, and eventually learns to love someone else. However, through these seemingly good moments, many unfortunate events take place. I typically don't get emotional while watching anything, but the emotional moments in Banana Fish actually made me cry. Not just because of what was happening, but largely due to MAPPA's incredible ability to show emotions in such a raw way. Everything from the relaxing scenes to the fight scenes to the ending scenes felt real due to MAPPA's skills as a studio to bring fictional characters to life and really impact their viewers. Sadly, because MAPPA is such a large studio, I was not able to find the individuals who worked on Banana Fish specifically, as well as their other anime works. However, I still believe that MAPPA is a great studio that has shown multiple times that they are one of the best.
