Project 2 - Kade Wilson

Week 1

This week I began working on project 2. I started by making the storyboard, which depicts a magic show. I will use pieces of paper to represent light/magic effects. By waving my hands and slowly moving the pieces of paper in each frame I will create the illusion that a spell is being performed. The props I will need for this project include several pieces of construction paper, scissors, random objects from my desk, and most importantly, a camera.

Week 2

This week I planned out how I will gather the materials needed for my project. My friend said she would lend me construction paper so I sent her my material list. In order to have enough paper to perform each scene I will need 2 sheets for each of the following colors: red, orange, yellow, blue, purple, black, and white. I already had all of the other props I needed for my project, so now all that must be obtained is the camera. I will check out the camera and take photos next week because I have plans this weekend.

Week 3

This week I bought all of the materials I need for my project and scouted out places to take pictures. I cut and shredded the construction paper into small pieces which fit the design of my project. I also printed out a picture of a pencil which will be used as a prop. As for the location where I will take the pictures for this project, I have decided to use my dorm room since it will provide a nice background for my video. I will begin shooting next week.

Week 4

This week I worked entirely on Project 3. I will continue working on Project 2 over the weekend.

Week 5

This week I began shooting for my project. I was unable to work over the weekend but I finally acquired a camera on Monday. On Tuesday through Thursday I shot over 160 frames. Using a frame rate of 10 fps, this equates to over half of the frames required to make up a 30 second clip. I will continue to shoot over the weekend and edit my final animation in premiere pro next week.

Week 6

This week I finished working on Project 2. I shot all 300 frames and assembled them in premiere pro. The final set of frames were particularly interesting to capture because of the method I used. I cut up a styrofoam ball frame by frame and then reversed the order of the frames to make it appear as if the ball rises out of my desk from thin air. I also added sound effects in premiere pro to make the final animation feel more alive. Overall I am satisfied with the final product.
