Stop Motion Video - Group Activity - Mackenzie Hayes, Ash Turnmire, Jackson Wade
Bird Karma
It had a simple story and complex movements. The movement of the water specifically was really cool and fun to watch. The colors are few but they go really well together, and the bright red fish really pops against the muted background to make it a focal point. The animation was really smooth, and it was cool how you could see some of the construction lines at times, which means that it was animated traditionally (or is mimicking that style).
The background music and the simplicity inspired us. It was also really cool to see an animation that didn't need words to get its point across, which means that you can understand it no matter what language you speak.
Bad Apple Stop Motion
This stop motion animation is the popularly recreated Vocaloid "Bad Apple", and although the creator of the video did not draw all the frames themself, there were a lot of interesting and fun creative liberties taken with how the printed out frames were positioned and moved throughout the space that they used to take the pictures. For example, when the "camera" followed something that was thrown in the air, the papers were lifted into the air. Another cool thing is how they sometimes layered the frames when they spun or moved around. I also really liked how they used lighting, they brought the 2d lighting from the original animation into the 3d recreation and make it feel more connected with the video itself. There was also another part that I really liked with three different similar scenes playing at the same time side by side.
